Dr. Omar Makram

Dr. Omar Makram is a medical doctor and healthcare strategist with 13 years of experience designing and scaling high-reliability healthcare programs and digital health systems. He began his career in general surgery before transitioning to healthcare management, and he now serves as Chief Operations Officer (COO) at ProximityFocal. Along the way, he founded and directed “Global Doctor,” a second-opinion service, where he oversaw a multinational team across the U.S., U.K., and Saudi Arabia. In that role, he forged links between physicians at leading medical centers in the U.S. and Europe and their counterparts in the Middle East to serve patients worldwide, while aligning the interests of payers, providers, and patients.

Dr. Omar has led projects in digital health, digital transformation, value-based care, healthcare governance, risk management, and strategy development and execution. He has also contributed to international initiatives to develop new medical devices and pharmaceuticals. He has extensive experience with healthcare systems in the United States, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. His background includes managing primary care facilities, chronic disease management, and collaborating with the World Health Organization on multiple preventive medicine programs.

In addition to his medical degrees, Dr. Omar holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA). He is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), a Project Management Professional (PMP), and a Certified Insurance Foundation Professional (IFCE) from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA). He also holds multiple certifications in business analytics, data analytics, and financial analysis, and has completed advanced training in problem-solving.
